Wuzhen

The last water canal town in China

It's China's last water canal town where you can still hear the echoes of the past. A south Yangtze water town with a 1300-year history.

For about two kilometres along the meandering water way of Dongzha, the peaceful folk of Wuzhen live in water chambers built in a stye unique to this place.

Over thirty ancient bridges still stand today, linking up Wuzhen's waterways as they have for the last few centuries; from the southern Song-Dynasty to the ming- and Qing-Dynasties still today.
